Komila Tangirova
Hornby Alumni Community Co-ordinator
Following a period of volunteering as the Hornby alumni event organiser, Komila Tangirova was officially appointed for a part-time role as the Coordinator of the Hornby Alumni Community from September 2024. Being a Hornby alumna herself, Komila sees this role as an amazing opportunity to get to know and engage with other alumni. “Hornby Alumni community is a family of excellent professionals from a diversity of contexts around the South Globe and continuous communication with them is a truly exciting part of this job” notes Komila.
Running a community of practice in Uzbekistan that Komila established herself in 2018, has helped her to gain experience of coordinating a big group of ELT professionals, which has helped her when starting this new role. One of Komila’s main goals is to reconnect with as many alumni as possible and create opportunities for them to exchange practices and knowledge through a variety of events.
As a teacher educator and researcher, Komila is interested in learning about different teaching contexts and collaborate with colleagues with similar interests and endeavours. She runs her own projects to support professional development of EFL teachers in Uzbekistan. Hornby Trust hopes Komila’s enthusiasm in developing the alumni community will lead to a lot of positive achievements!
